چکیده

If General McPeak is correct, and I believe he is, the opposite proposition should also be true. That is, if our country employs air and space power thoughtlessly or unimaginatively, this power will be less effective or even disastrously impotent. To help avoid such grave risks in the future, the thesis of this article takes us at least one stop beyond. McPeak’s already powerful insight. This article argues that military power resides in the domain of the mind and the will; the provinces of choice, “thinking,” valuing or “attitude,” and insight or “imagination.” Further, it argues that, because of this, military power can increase in effectiveness even as it decreases in violence. As a consequence, the article necessarily infers that air and space operations help establish the essential preconditions for meeting national security political objectives without force, or what I call neocortical warfare.

Spectrophotometric Studies ot Vanadium(III) Ion Complexes th p-Sulfonatocalixf 41 acme In Aqueous Solution

Spectropholornetrie technique is used to evaluate binding of the vanadium(1U) ion to a water solublecaruc[4] arene molecule in aqueous solution. On the basis of the calculated value formation constant at25rC.we found that the eomplexation of this metal on is very favored towards 25, 26, 27, 2Stetrahydroxy-5, 11, 17, 23-tetnmulphonalic acid-calix[0]areneGaussian 03 package.

Learning from Examples: Reminding or Heuristic Switching?

Introduction Recent work in skill acquisition has suggested that the use of examples of previously attempted problems is critical during the early stages of skill learning and is still common after a skill has been acquired (Pirolli & Anderson, 1985; Ross & Kennedy 1990). Much of the data on the effects of specific prior problems has been published in the crossdomain analogy literature where ba...

Neocortical mechanisms in motor learning.

The ability to learn novel motor skills has fundamental importance for adaptive behavior. Neocortical mechanisms support human motor skill learning, from simple practice to adaptation and arbitrary sensory-motor associations. Behavioral and neural manifestations of motor learning evolve in time and involve multiple structures across the neocortex. Modifications of neural properties, synchrony a...

P15: Hippocampus-Neocortical Communication in Learning

The hippocampus is located in the medial temporal lobe and is a part of the forebrain. It plays a critical role in formation of declared memories. The hippocampus is banana-shaped and communicates with all parts of neocortex. Reptiles and birds have structures like hippocampus that potentially serve as navigation functions. During the mammalian evolution, the neocortex has a large expansio...

Genetic Diversity of Arginine Catabolic Mobile Element in Staphylococcus epidermidis

BACKGROUND The methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus clone USA300 contains a novel mobile genetic element, arginine catabolic mobile element (ACME), that contributes to its enhanced capacity to grow and survive within the host. Although ACME appears to have been transferred into USA300 from S. epidermidis, the genetic diversity of ACME in the latter species remains poorly characterized. ...
